Dear Editor,
I am the "Author" who is being much buzzed about in your editorial and society page. I am not going mad. I am not in need of a straight jacket, and I am making excellent progress in this novel. To those of you who expect a fictionalized account of your lives, I'm sorry but this is wholly fiction and my intentions are not to propagate any agenda or cult of personality which some would suggest. My intentions are to examine the bleak outlook of life for those who inhabit our fair city and our world without the comforts of spiritual diversion and also to admonish our current complacency in accepting the half-hatched utopia we were already promised.
I am not a traditional utopian in that I do not see the world and the individual as capable of harmony, yet I know that social justice is a goal and that with more harmony, resonance is stronger. Let us all tune ourselves to a common vision and move forward is the next step. This novel does nothing to prescribe an actual course. Simply to reveal, such as the existentialist, the universal malady of a society so dependent on a identity of progress but with no merits and credits to such a status. Silver City is a city of skeptics and I imagine that no one will believe again but were not the deluded religious masses happier with their stronger sense of common identity? This is the question I pose. Anyway....read it once it comes out and make me a richer man.
Yours truly,
The Author

Author Bouts With Strange Psychic Malady

By: Elenore Font
A strange upheaval has placed the author of the much anticipated novel "The Poet of Future Myth" in a state of quiet despair. Reports from family indicate that the author claims to have lost all ambition and inspiration and has fallen into what one family member calls a "psychic black-hole". No more is known about the author's condition but if the past is any indicator, this troubled artist may be on his way to a steep decline from which he may nver return leaving so many citizens of Silver City wondering if they will ever read the novel which he has promised for the past year.
The author is a diagnosed psychotic according to medical records, released by his own volition upon the 2010 scandal during which a professor claimed he was not authority on psychic treatment. The author is an advocate of the mentally ill and has chosen to remain reclusive during this period of questions and gossip. Some have claimed the author is a master, others a hack; but one thing that is known to all is that he is a major force in Silver City and that we all ought to hope that he recovers to return to his work so that we all may enjoy the fiction of facts which we have all come to know through his brilliant storytelling.
